• Developing and sustaining a commitment to follow in the way of Jesus
• Reading the Bible again and again, integrating its stories and wisdom into one’s life
• Learning the way the church has changed over time and in conversation with different cultures and historic challenges
  
• Understanding the ways the United Church of Christ connects to, and is distinct from, other Christian traditions
• Praying—with others and alone—and seeking spiritual growth through spiritual practices and disciplines
• Living with moral integrity, guided by Christian ethics and values
• Practicing the way of Jesus by using one’s gifts and talents—serving those in need, caring for God’s creation, and acting and advocating for justice and peace
• Worshiping God in community with others who are seeking to follow in the way of Jesus
• Actively engaging in the life, ministries, and activities of the church
